At Champion, our students are taught Shotokan Karate. Shotokan is one of only four Japanese martial arts that are officially recognized as forms of Karate and is the most popular and widely spread type of Karate in the world. Our program combines the best aspects of traditional Shotokan with sport Karate, creating a unique mix of techniques that can be used in practical self defense situations as well as competitive sparring. Our Karate program is fun and challenges students to improve their natural strengths, including stamina, endurance, flexibility, balance, speed, power, and coordination. Champion also offers additional member benefits, including student recognition programs and the best overall belt ranking system around!
Students in the 4-5 year old age range will participate in the Little Dragons program. The curriculum is age specific and developmentally appropriate, which allows for regular advancement in younger students. Our Little Dragon activities will keep your child physically fit, as well as teach them the benefits of good behavior. This curriculum will also help them to see the value of teamwork, good manners, and trying their best in everything they do. In turn, this will increase their self-esteem, self-confidence, and enjoyment of the class.
The Champion Shotokan Karate system teaches students ages 6-12, teens and adults the philosophy of "walking away" from a confrontation whenever possible, but also arms our students with the skill to defend themselves when forced into a situation with no other option. Our program is divided into three separate classes (Beginner, Advanced, and Elite) which are based on rank and skill level, allowing for each student to train in the program that best suits his or her needs. All classes focus on continual technique improvement and hones self defense skills with the ultimate goal of developing well rounded and versatile martial arts.
